Ricky "Jack" McGee

Ricky “Jack” McGee, 72, of Morrilton, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Jack left this world at peace in his home, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Jack was born October 10, 1953, in Morrilton to Huie and Eula (Epperson) McGee. Jack was the 5th of 7 children. Jack entered school at Plummerville, where lifelong friendships were made. He continued his education at Morrilton Junior and Senior High Schools. After his 1971 graduation, Jack went through basic training for service in the United States Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He served during the waning years of the Vietnam War in the Air Force postal service. During his years in the service, his only child, Erika Ashley, or as she was known by the McGee family as “Erika Miss America,” was born. After his honorable discharge from the military, Jack attended State College of Arkansas (now UCA) and later Petit Jean Technical School (now UACCM), where he received his welding certification. Later, Jack worked offshore on an oil rig as a logger. He also sold real estate at his sister’s Century 21 franchise. Finally, following his artistic passions, Jack went into business for himself sculpting stone signs. Many parks in both Colorado and Arkansas used Jack’s talent for their signage. There are pieces in Morrilton to live on as a testament to his talent. During his spare time, Jack penned several novels. Jack loved to travel. He made multiple trips to Russia and Ukraine, but his heart belonged to the Colorado mountain wilderness. He made friends everywhere he traveled who stayed in contact until near the end. Jack lived a very modest life. Jack had a very deep and loving heart. He was known for his generosity, gladly sharing whatever he had. Jack is survived by the apple of his eye, his great-granddaughter, Olivia Spires. He is also survived by sisters: Sherill (Mark) Gilman of Morrilton and Sandy Dunlap of Plumerville. Also left to grieve are sister-in-law Luann McGee of Hot Spring County, 14 nieces and nephews, several great and great-great nieces and nephews, and a plethora of cousins. Jack was predeceased by his parents, his daughter, his siblings, James “Buddy”, Donna, and Dennis McGee, grandparents Arthur and Eva (Mallett) Epperson, and Jack and Clara (Cook) McGee. A private burial will be held at a later date. Services provided by Harris Funeral Home.
