Mary Evelyn Anderson

Mary Evelyn Mason Anderson, 93, of Center Ridge left this life on November 11, 2022. Mary was born to Lonnie and Celia Mason on September 28, 1929. She was raised when times were a bit tough and you used everything up to the last little bit and if she did not have it, she could make something that would work just fine if not better. In 1947 she married Kenneth Edsel Anderson and together they built a farm and raised a family of 3 daughters and one son. She was of the Church of Christ faith. Mom could whip up meals for the family but often or not there were neighbors who stopped by for a visit or hands that were helping in the hay field. There was always room at her table. Fried crappie, chicken and dumplings and homemade macaroni were some of her specialties. Her coconut and chocolate pies were the best and her half-moon pies were a favorite of all. She worked on the farm, gardened, canned, and made beautiful quilts for her children, grandchildren and on, for as long as her fingers could place a stitch. Many babies have been wrapped up warmly with a quilt from Mary Anderson. She loved to spend time on the pond fishing. She had a green thumb and could grow most anything. If it could be rooted and shared with others it happened. Her legacy will be carried on by her children: Melissa and Garry Polk of Center Ridge; Kenneth Clay and Rita Anderson of Weston Lakes, Texas; Barbara and Gary Hunter of Sherwood and Melanie Anderson-Hollis of Center Ridge; two sisters: Lena Tolbertson of California and Kathy Mason Smith of Conway. She will be greatly missed by her surviving eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth Edsel Anderson, two grandchildren, Lance Hunter and Fawn Anderson Spence and great-grandson, Colten Polk. The family wishes to thank the staff at Greenbrier Rehab and Nursing Facility and Gentiva Hospice for the loving care they provided for our mom. On Tuesday, November 15, 2022 there will be a visitation at 1:00 p.m. followed by services at 2:00 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home in Morrilton. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery in Center Ridge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grandview Cemetery Fund or the Center Ridge Food Pantry.
