Eddie Joe Poteete

Eddie Joe Poteete, age 61, of Morrilton, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born January 21, 1963, in Morrilton, Arkansas, son of the late Cecil Carl Poteete and Willie Mae Huett Poteete. Eddie Joe was a “jack of all trades”! He was an avid hunter, loved to fish, make wine, and was an amazing cook. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He spent many years as a volunteer and cook for Sacred Heart School events, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5209, which was something he held very dear to his heart. He was always there whenever there was a need, no matter the occasion, time, place, or whomever- you could always count on him. Above all things, his biggest passion and love was his family. He was a loving husband, father, and Daddy-Teete to his grandchildren. He loved cooking for the entire family on Sundays, holidays, or any other time in between. He was always building something new around the house, gardening, canning, or teaching his grandkids how to hunt and fish. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Michelle DeSalvo Poteete; his daughters, Heather (Derrick) Newsome and Haley (Daniel) Lynch, all of Morrilton; four grandchildren, Kendrick and Tylee Newsome, DJ and Addie Lynch; his mother-in-law, Betty DeSalvo; brothers, Kenneth Mahan of Morrilton, Cecil Ray (Regina) Poteete of Center Ridge, Carl (Ann) Poteete of Overcup, and Ben (Rhonda) Poteete of Morrilton; and a host of nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, and brother-in-laws. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie and David Poteete; four sisters, Linda Poteete, Sandy Cook, Betty Trevino, and Frankie Skinner; and his father-in-law, Gene DeSalvo. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, at the Harris Chapel with Father Jack Harris officiating. A funeral vigil will be 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home with visitation starting at 6:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Carl Poteete, Cecil Ray Poteete, Kenneth Mahan, Ben Poteete, Derrick Newsome, and Daniel Lynch. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Wilson, Bo Smith, Junior Hill, Pete Settles, Mark Hoelzeman, Ronnie Hendricks, DJ Lynch, Matthew Robertson and Kendrick Newsome. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic School at 106 North St. Joseph, Morrilton, AR 72110.
