Dr. Norma Jean Compton

Dr. Norma Jean Compton died Friday, Oct. 23, 2020. She was 81 years old. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, J.T. Compton; three sons, Ken Compton of Conway, Kevin Compton of Little Rock, and Kris Compton of Ashville, NC; three granddaughters, Lauren Hum of Conway, Catie Halac of Longmont, CO., and Kylan Compton of Little Rock; brother, Charles Vickers; sister, Wilma Moore; sister-in-law, Niva Lancaster of Springfield, MO.; daughters-in-law, Debra Compton, Dana Compton and Karen Compton; and a host of nieces and nephews. Born August 26, 1939 in Stone County, AR., she was a loving and dedicated mother to her sons, and a strong partner to the husband she married at 16-years-old. As her sons reached their later teen years, she embarked on an educational career which saw her become an LPN and later a RN, then garnered masters and doctorate honors in the counseling and health science fields. For many years, she had a counseling practice in Little Rock and Morrilton, specializing in helping clients deal with the aging and failing health of family members. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 31 Cumberland Rd. Conway, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Arkansas, 201 Markham Center Dr., Little Rock, AR.
