April 9, 1935 - February 7, 2021
Naomi Veleta Scott Maxwell, age 85, of Cherry Hill went to meet her heavenly family on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at home in Cherry Hill surrounded by her loved ones. She was born April 9, 1935 in Cherry Hill, Arkansas a daughter of Dewey Gay Scott and Jewell New Scott. She was a member of the Cherry Hill Freewill Baptist Church. She worked outside the home for the U.S. Forest Service in Chevlon Butte, Arizona, for the Area Agency on Aging in Perryville, and for Perryville Elementary School. Her most rewarding job was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and was called “Granny” and “Great Gran”. She often said she wanted to be a nurse and a missionary. As it turned out she was both. She took care of her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, many friends and neighbors and answered many emergency calls during the night. As for the missionary work she kept us all on the right path and quoted Bible scriptures to all who knew her and didn’t really give anyone, especially her children, the option of not listening. She was devoted to her Christian beliefs and loved her church family. She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 59 years Robert J. Maxwell; two brothers, Dewey and Cleo Scott; and one sister Kathryn Euleta Davis. She is survived by her children: Ronnie Maxwell (Ruby) of Perryville; Johnnie Ellen Trower (Robert) of Perryville; David Maxwell (Martha) of Perryville; and Jim Maxwell (Carla) of Perry. She also leaves loving grandchildren: Raudy Maxwell of Perryville, Josh Maxwell of Eastman, GA, Rebecca Follmar of Friendswood, TX, Jodi Lee of Little Rock, AR, Scott Trower of Greenbrier, AR, Jessie Ellen West of Houston TX, and Chris Maxwell of Warner Robbins, GA. Great Grandchildren who affectionately called her “Great Gran” include Ashley Studstill, Amber Maxwell, Ava Maxwell, Alex Trawick, Rainlyn Trawick, Marlee Trower, Kali Trower, Jack Trower, Isabella Follmar, Ruby Follmar, and one great great granddaughter Susannah Studstill. She also leaves many nieces and nephews who lovingly called her “Aunt Nonie”, and many other friends and relatives who will miss her and have the best of memories. Special thanks to the staff at Perry County Nursing and Rehab for the love and care she received during the time she spent there and to Kindred Hospice staff for their love and support at her home. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, at Cherry Hill Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Ronny Morris officiating. Family will be receiving friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the Church prior to the service. Burial will be at Cherry Hill Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Pallbearers are Raudy Maxwell, Chris Maxwell, Scott Trower, Donnie Strickland, Monty Scott, Chuck Cagle.
