October 9, 1930 - July 11, 2020
On Saturday, July 11, 2020, Lila Jean Bradley Williams, age 89, of Cypress Valley passed peacefully into the open arms of her Savior and was met at the pearly gates of Heaven by a host of loved ones. Born October 9, 1930, to William Thomas Bradley and Gladys Gilliam Bradley, Lila Jean was the perfect example of a Christian who lived her life with a servant’s heart. Lila held many titles in her life: daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend, wife, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, Mama, and her secret favorite Mamma. The walls of her little home in Cypress Valley are filled with photos of the family she saw as her greatest accomplishment. Lila was a member of Cypress Valley Community Church where she utilized her singing voice. She was a hard worker. For years during the summers you could find her working her gardens, mowing lawns, and her most important job was mowing and cleaning her final resting place Kilgore Cemetery and the Martinville Cemetery until the past few years. She was also a long-time correspondent for the Petit Jean Country Headlight writing the Cypress Valley News. Survivors include her children, Sandra Gail Mahan, James Luther (Diane) Williams, Mary Kathleen (Jimmy) Miller, Robert Allen (Melba) Williams, Sarah Jo (Mark) McVey, and Angela Faye (Bill Ed) Smith; grandchildren, Miranda Michelle Denham, Victor Bryan Mahan, David Keith (Belinda) Williams, Rebecca Nicole (Chris) Turner, Tiffany Gail (Earl) Johnson, Bradley Thomas (Brittany) Miller, Melody Kaye Williams, Samantha Jean Williams, Koy Turner (Jessica) Williams, Allison Renee (Josh) Hart, Morgan Ryan McVey, William Trace McVey, Anna Olivia Smith, Alexandra Mae Smith, Hunter Jackson, Smith, Savannah Elizabeth Smith; great-grandchildren, Brittany Michelle Denham, Seth Michael ( Alyssa) Mahan, Carter Bryan Mahan, Joshua Kyle Uptigrove, Justin David Uptigrove, Marley Grace Turner, Blaine William Johnson, Trent Thomas Johnson, Colton David Johnson, Raegan Rae Ward, RheaLeigh Tayte Crisler, Lydia Paige Hart, and Clara Grace Hart; great-great-grandsons, Cooper Jase Mahan and Nash Koel Mahan; sister-in-laws, Ollie Waites and Barbara Bradley, honorary family members, Melanie Brice Hill and Bryson Monroe Pitts; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Lila Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James Turner “Bud” Williams; her parents; granddaughter, Christy Denise Williams; son-in-law, Charles Rickey Mahan; brother, Warren G.
