Leon "Len" McIntyre

October 18, 1928 - August 8, 2019

Heaven gained a great banjo player on Thursday, August 8, 2019; Leon Burnett “Len” McIntyre, age 90, of Bigelow, Arkansas, who was born in Lonoke County, Arkansas to Samuel B. and Blanche Shields McIntyre on October 18, 1928. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as an equipment installer for Western Electric for 27½ years, retiring in 1981. Len loved the Lord and played his banjo on the worship team at church for many years. Len spent many happy hours playing bluegrass music with his wife and friends at Cypress Creek Park in Adona, Arkansas. Len enjoyed riding horses and trained several over the years. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Karen; son, Jim McIntyre (Becca); and daughters, Beverly Woody (David) and Gail Walter (Mike). His son, Mike McIntyre preceded him in death. His sisters, Wilma Diffee, Melva Reaves (Jim), and Sharon Stevens (Kelly); brothers, Jerry McIntyre (Nina) and Doug McIntyre (Mary) are left behind to treasure his memory; along with four grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. A celebration service will be at Today’s Family Church in Bigelow at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, with Pastor Rick Ferren and Bro. Johnnie Brewster officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service, at the church. Burial will be at Volman Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
