Hettie Mae (Halbrook) Hofherr of Cleveland passed away peacefully on November 8, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born on October 13, 1929 in Cleveland to Andrew and Hettie (Rhoads) Halbrook. She was the youngest of eight children. Hettie Mae graduated from Wonderview High School in 1947. In the same year, she began classes at Arkansas Teacher’s College (now known as UCA), while beginning her first year of teaching, which was at Oppelo. She went on to teach a year at Cleveland and then another 37 years at Wonderview School District where she officially retired in 1986. She married her husband, Anton M. (Tuff) Hofherr on August 28, 1954. She was a lifelong member of the Cleveland United Methodist Church, She was also a member of Extension Homemakers Club, and Conway County Retired teachers. Other than teaching, she dedicated her life to being the best mother, wife, “Granny”, sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Hettie (Rhoads) Halbrook, her brothers Lyonell, Opie, Clyde, and infant brothers Ormid and Gerall Halbrook, sisters Rose (Halbrook) Walls and Reva Dale (Halbrook) Thompson. Her husband Anton M. (Tuff) Hofherr, and an infant grandson, Baby Ingels. She is survived by: daughter Patricia (Steve) Ingels of North Little Rock, son Charles Buddy (Lisa) Hofherr of Cleveland, grandchildren: Kayla (Louis) Earnhart of Morrilton, Charlie Jones of Morrilton, Lauren (Brad) Atkinson of Plumerville, Drew Ingels of North Little Rock, Alexis Allen and Anton D. (Tuffy) Hofherr of Cleveland, great grandchildren: Landon, Kyler, and Caiden Wiley, Joshua Coats, Connor and Olivia Jones, and Everleigh Mae Atkinson. Due to Covid 19, there will be a graveside service for family on Saturday, November 14, at Old Liberty Cemetery with Suanne Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday November 13, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Tommy Thompson, Mike Thompson, Bill Thompson, Shawn Halbrook, John Halbrook, and Bob Bowling Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Halbrook, Gary Flory, Louis Earnhart, Brad Atkinson, Drew Ingels, Tuffy Hofherr, Joshua Coats, Connor Jones, Landon Wiley, Kyler Wiley, and Caiden Wiley. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Cleveland United Methodist Church, 403 Copeland Cave Rd; Cleveland, Arkansas 72030 or Old Liberty Cemetery Perpetual Fund, 50 Abbey Lane, Morrilton, Arkansas 72110.
