Dixie Dean Bradley Murphey Age 87 of Mobile, Alabama formerly of Jerusalem, Arkansas, passed away on 3rd of September 2019. She is preceded in death by her dearest mother Marjorie Reynolds Bradley Summers, father Leonard Bradley, sister Mary Francis Fitch, brother William H. Bradley. Dixie's main interests were in her beloved family. She was a true beautiful southern woman known by all who met her as sweet, kindhearted, considerate and thoughtful of others. She enjoyed her many pets over the years, tending her camellia/azalea gardens and soaking in Gods wonders of nature. Dixie loved her families “First Cousins Gatherings” and family reunions on Pettit Jean Mountain, Arkansas. In her younger years she was active in the Symphony League of Mobile, Mobile Opera Guild, Historic Preservation Society, American Red Cross, Sky Ranch Garden Club, a volunteer at Mobile Infirmary Auxiliary, fishing with family and assisting in her daughters business. Family history and heritage was important to her. In her later years she spent time with family tracing the genealogical footsteps of her ancestors taking her to Williamsburg, Virginia, family homestead's in Tennessee where her Cherokee linage began then to Arkansas and Alabama.. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years Ben Paul William Murphey, daughter Paula Dean Lee and son Ben Alan Murphey. She also leaves behind her cherished grandson Garrison Murphey, (Meghan) and beloved great grandchildren Collin Michael Murphey, Kendall Maree Murphey, and Chase Alan Murphey residing in St Louis Missouri, sister Dianna Porter (Mike) in Mobile Alabama, brother Robert A. Summers of Scott Arkansas, nephew Phillip Bradley (Terry) of Romance Arkansas, nieces Karen Reed (Dewayne) Sharon Hamby (Blake), Susan Thomas (Jon) and a host of nieces and nephews. Also, cherished 1st cousins Deborah Kay Reynolds, Delila Dale Meyer, Dorothy King, Lillian Shelton, Dennis Reynolds, Barbara Mulligan, Joey Henry, Nancy Cox, Joe Michael Arendt. Other survivors and cherished friends Penney Adamo (Joe), Gwen Cranford (Donald), Leannah Holland (Lyman) Lynda Baldwin (Joe), beloved lifetime friend Barbara Cart Wucherfenning of Albuquerque New Mexico , Alyne Caddell (deceased) and so many others who experienced the exciting journey of life together. In accordance to her wishes there will be no Funeral Service. She will be returned to Jerusalem, Arkansas where her life began, laid to rest with her ancestors at Cedar Creek family cemetery nestled at the foothills of the Ozark Mountains with a graveside service on 14 Sept, 2019 10:00 am. A celebration of Dixie's life will take place in the spring in Jerusalem, Arkansas at the family Cedar Creek Cemetery where family members meet annually to celebrate their ancestors. In lieu of flowers her request was donations can be sent to the Cedar Creek Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 53 Jerusalem, Arkansas 72080.
