Virginia Ann Cox

Virginia Ann (Longo) Cox, age 85, of Morrilton, Arkansas, passed away, on Friday, November 2, 2018, on the feast of All Souls Day. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morrilton Virginia was born October 23, 1933 in Hazleton, PA. She and her first husband, Blase Yamona, Sr. moved their young family to De Queen, AR in 1963. Virginia was a hard worker with boundless energy. She had several jobs over the years. She was a hair stylist, waitress and cleaned houses. In fact, she owned and operated two beauty salons. Virginia loved her family with a passion. She was a woman of great faith and prayer. For many years she was involved in the Moms In Prayer Ministry prayer group where she prayed weekly with other grandmothers for her children and grandchildren. Her family counted on her prayers. She was a Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart. When she had grandchildren at Sacred Heart School she volunteered grading papers. Her grandchildren have fond memories of going to dollar movies with her then going out for frozen yogurt and buying stuff at the Dollar Tree. They were spoiled at her place when she would let them eat in front of the TV. They would get to eat ramen noodles, candy, pretzels, and sips of her peach water. They loved spending the night and playing in her pink room. We all knew she loved the color pink, her costume jewelry, as well as manis and pedis. Everyone liked when she cooked her spaghetti and meatballs. She will be missed by her, Children: Angela Yamona Mitchell (Sylvester Mitchell) of Fayetteville, AR; Bernadette Yamona Post (Dr. Peter Post) of Morrilton, AR; Blase Yamona (Lori Wachsmuth) of Denver, CO; Mary Yamona of Broomfield, CO. Grandchildren: Daniel Mitchell (Taylor Kitchens Mitchell); Malcolm Mitchell; Mary Post Stengel (Matthew Stengel); Katie Post Carr (Coy Carr); Jacob Post (Allison Maniace Post); Joseph Post; Tressa Flowers Floyd (Lee Floyd); Luke Flowers (Whitney Mays Flowers); Julia McCay; Amanda McCay Nineteen Great Grandchildren Three brothers and one sister: Robert Longo; Michael Longo, Jimmy Longo and Bettie Longo Timm She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter: Annette Yamona Flowers Parents: Carmen Longo and Josephine Cimminelli Longo Siblings: Marie Longo Ellyn; Rose Longo Sokolowski; Mitzi Longo Hayducek; Dana Longo Doddo; Dolly Longo Chabalka. Husband: Jack Cox Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jack Harris officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Rosary will be Monday, November 5, from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. with visitation following at Harris Funeral Home in Morrilton.
