Jimmie D. Miller

Jimmy D. Miller age 73 of Birdtown passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at CRMC surrounded by his family. He had defiantly battled numerous health issues for years. The last three years were his greatest battle as he faced everything with a broken heart. Jimmy was born on Saturday, February 10, 1951, in Sheridan, Arkansas to Doyce “Bill” and Joyce Threlkeld Miller. He spent most of his younger years living with his maternal grandparents, Sydney and Evie Threlkeld. His grandfather taught him to hunt and fish and to love the outdoors. These loves he passed on to his son, Bradley Thomas Miller. Uncountable hours were spent with him, Bradley, and anyone who would listen and participate, trading hunting and fishing stories. Jimmy served as quarterback for Sheridan High School. One of his fondest stories about this was to tell how they always beat Morrilton when they played each other. His favorite sports involved a rod and reel or a snagging pole and/or a gun or bow. Jimmy worked for years in the paper industry in Grant County, Arkansas. After marrying his wife, Kathleen, he moved to Birdtown, Arkansas. In Conway County, he worked for South Conway County School District in the maintenance department. Later, he took a job as a warehouse worker for Agri Co-op of Morrilton. He worked there for 30 odd years loading feed and slinging fertilizer until his health forced retirement on him. A favorite activity for Jimmy during this time was spending shifts as an auxiliary officer for the Morrilton Police Department and the Conway County Sheriff’s Department, especially his nighttime rides with Gary Dilbeck, Doug Hunter, and Joey Nutt. In the words of Rob Harris…”Jimmy loved to carry a gun.” Jimmy was preceded in death by his son and favorite hunting and fishing companion, Bradley Thomas Miller; his parents; his step-father, Charles (Buddy) Beck; his grandparents; his In-laws, James T. (Bud) and Lila Jean Williams; sister, Sue Nichols, and brother, Billy Miller. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathleen (Williams); his daughter, Tiffany (Earl) Johnson; grandsons Blaine(Anna), Trent, and Colton Johnson of Mountain Home; sisters Brenda LeCroy and Libby(Mark) Skorcz of Sheridan; In-laws: Sandra Mahan, James (Diane) Williams, Robert(Melba)Williams, Sarah (Mark) McVey, and Angela (Bill Ed) Smith all of the Springfield area. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great nephews and his dog and loyal companion, Lady. His life was enriched the last few years by Lydia and Clara Hart; special friends Jared and Emily Hurley and their daughters, Teagan and Oaklyn; Nate Walker, and Avery Stobaugh. Jimmy looked forward to his Wednesday night suppers and visits with this crew and nephew Will McVey. Funeral services will be at Harris Funeral Home in Morrilton, Arkansas Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be Monday, July 22nd from 6:00 till 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by Bro. Dillon Russell, Brother Robert Williams, and Bro. James L. Williams. Pallbearers are Jared Hurley, Nate Walker, Morgan McVey, William McVey, Ryan Lovelady, Doug Hunter, Gary Dilbeck, and Josh Hart. Honorary pallbearers are: Earl, Blaine, Trent, and Colton Johnson; Mark McVey and Bill Ed Smith, and his nephews. Jimmy was a friend to all he met. He spent lots of time the last few years with a special group of friends at Birdtown Grocery. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and the community.
