David Edward Durbin "Durb"

David Edward Durbin “Durb” of Atkins, lost his 9-year battle with cancer on April 3, 2023, at his home in Atkins and was welcomed into the arms of our Lord. He was born in Morrilton, Arkansas, on May 28, 1954, to Henry Edward Durbin and Iva Jean Jackson. He was a devoted, hard- working husband and father who loved his family, friends, and his Lord. He is preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents- Carl and Fatha Jackson and Wiley and Delphia Durbin. David is survived by the love of his life, Maribeth Jackson Durbin, and his son, Phil Merriott of Jonesboro, brother-in-law and sister- in- law, Bill and Donna Jackson, niece Tia Smith, Eric, and Jaxon, nephew Chance Jackson, Caitlyn and, Rowan (soon to be born). He is also survived by his uncle B.L. Chambliss, aunt Von Jackson, first cousins; June Combs, Gary Jackson, Larry Jackson, Kay Jones, Rita Dutton, Kim Randolph, Duane Jackson, Myron Jackson, Terri Brooksher, Sherry Evans, Carol Wadley, Mary Brannon, and Craig Chambliss, and other extended family members and close friends. David will be greatly missed by his furry friend, Graycie the cat. David was a faithful, loving husband to his wife, Maribeth, and they recently celebrated 34 years of marriage. David was a man of faith and was a member of the Blackwell Baptist Church. He joined in 1964 and was baptized into the church. In recent years he attended the Atkins United Methodist Church with Maribeth. David was in Automotive Sales and Services, owned Durb’s Auto Parts in Atkins, and was the former manager of the Agri Co-op supply in Morrilton. He was a member of the Dardanelle Model Railroad Club. He was a model train enthusiast and enjoyed spending time with his railroad buddies, riding trains, and working on his train layout. David also loved hot rod cars and watching drag races and stock car races. He was very generous and was always willing to help anyone who was in need. He adored children and big dogs and loved life in general. He lived life to the fullest and courageously fought cancer without complaint. Michael Blanchard and Bro. Eric Smith officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, prior to the service.
