Burl Clowers

Burl Clowers, age 93, born in 1932 in Center Ridge, Arkansas, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 9:25 a.m., leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, service, and devotion to family. Burl was born to Clifton Taylor Clowers and Ester Bell Clowers and was raised in the close-knit farming community of Center Ridge. Growing up, he learned the value of hard work while helping his parents on the family farm. He attended Nemo Vista High School in Center Ridge, Arkansas, before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force for four years. During his time in the Air Force, Burl met the love of his life, Sara Jean Clowers. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Wayne Clowers and Sherri Clowers Vos. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service. The family eventually relocated to Modesto, California, where they purchased their home and became deeply rooted in the community. Burl worked for many years at Modesto Junior College in Modesto, California. Beyond his career, he was known for his unwavering commitment to his church and his relationship with Jesus Christ. He served faithfully as a deacon and as a member of the church board for many years. Those who knew Burl knew that he loved the Lord with all his heart and sought to reflect that love in the way he lived his life. Burl found great joy in hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time outdoors. His garden was a source of pride and a blessing to many, as he generously shared its harvest with friends, neighbors, and anyone in need. He also devoted countless hours visiting nursing homes, encouraging elderly residents and making sure they felt loved, valued, and remembered. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sara Jean Clowers. He is survived by his son, Wayne Clowers of Nashville, Tennessee; his daughter, Sherri Clowers Vos of Russellville, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Kaydin Vos, Nick Vos, Alyssya Vos, Skylar Vos, and Chris MacDonald; and his great-grandchildren, Ethan Stewart and Gavin Stewart of Branson, Missouri, Lucas Vos, Violet Vos, Georgia Vos, and Mason Beers of Branson, Missouri. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, church family, and all those whose lives were touched by his kindness and faithful example. Burl's life was a testimony to God's grace, characterized by humility, generosity, compassion, and steadfast faith. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew him. His family rejoices in the assurance that he is now reunited with his beloved Sara Jean and resting in the presence of the Lord he served so faithfully throughout his life.
