Berniece E. Lierly

Berniece E. Lierly passed away on October 13, 2010 at her home in Birdtown, Arkansas. Mrs. Lierly was born October 14, 1921, in Lanty, Arkansas, the daughter of Jim Walter and Jewell Tucker Huett. Mrs. Lierly attended Nemo Vista High School, in Center Ridge and Teachers College of Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas. In August of 1943, she married Delmas D. Lierly of Birdtown, Arkansas. In 1949, a job opportunity brought the couple to Kansas City, Missouri, where they lived until Mr. Lierly retired and they returned to Arkansas and enjoyed their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Delmas and Berniece had two children, Sherrye and Jerry. Berniece's most treasured possession was her family. Delmas and Berniece were married for nearly 63 years when he preceded her in death. They were members of the Pleasant Springs Baptist Church of Birdtown, Arkansas. Also, preceding her in death were her parents, Jim Walter and Jewell Tucker Huett and a great-grandchild, Makenna Starling. Survivors include a sister, Francis Ruff of Morrilton, Arkansas; a daughter, Sherrye Dean Starling of Lee's Summit, Missouri; a son, Jerry Wayne Lierly of Independence, Missouri; six grandchildren, Tammy Handy of Blue Springs, Missouri, Jason Freeman of Independence, Missouri, Michelle Bragg of Conway, Arkansas, Gina Robinson of Birdtown, Arkansas, Jonathan Starling of New York, New York, and Dustin Lierly of Manheim, Germany; and 12 great-grandchildren, John Lierly, Tyler Langford, Katelyn Bragg, Shelby Fanara, Cameron Handy, Ryder Lierly, Ashton Cody, Daniel Cody, Ally Hardee, River Robinson, Aubrey Starling, and Micah Starling. Family hour will be 7-8 p.m. Friday, October 15, at Harris Funeral Home in Morrilton. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Harris Chapel with Bro. Jim Mullins and Bro. Doyle Glass officiating. Burial will be at Kilgore Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
