Ann Mary Smith

Ann Mary Mobley Smith passed away on April 4, 2024, in Mobile, Alabama. She was born in Morrilton, Arkansas, on December 17, 1947, to John Bryce and Katherine Hoelzeman Mobley. Ann graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Arkansas Tech University, and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. After graduating from college, Ann served in the Peace Corps in Turkey and traveled extensively throughout Europe. She lived outside London, England, where her boys were born, before returning to the USA to live in Harrisonville, Missouri, and later on the Mississippi Coast. She spent a rewarding career as a special education teacher in Morrilton and Gulfport, Mississippi, retiring in 2012. Ann was always actively involved in her son's lives, encouraging them in all their activities from church to Boy Scouts to sports! She became an avid NFL fan, although she may have had no choice in watching the games with her boys. She is survived by her sons Jason of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and Jeffery(Dawn) of Kittanning, Pennsylvania, grandchildren Derek and Taylor McCullar, stepsons Cory (Stacey) Smith and their children Alex (Sam), Tucker, Eli, and Annie, K.C. (Tracy) Smith, Kelsey (Jalon) Inhofer, grandson Charlie and great-grandson Blake. Ann is also survived by sisters Susan (Jim) Yeager, Russellville, Arkansas, Ellen Mobley, Conway, Arkansas, Karen (Gene) Watson, Rolla, Missouri, and sister-in-law, Jean Smith McMahan, Sullivan, Indiana. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John, husbands Joe Don McCullar and Kenneth Smith, and brother-in-law Don McMahan. Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morrilton, Arkansas, on Thursday, April 11, at 1:00 p.m. with Father Jack Harris and Deacon Steve Mallett officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church. Pallbearers are Derek McCullar, Toby and Andy Yeager, Ray Jones, Johnathon and Cory Smith. Honorary pallbearers include K. C. Smith, Jerry, Ron, and Kenny Kaufman, Bruno Hoelzeman, Robert Carruthers, George, David, Mark, and Paul Hoelzeman, and Joe and Richard Mobley.
